Would be a great addition for those who check their groups from a work computer.

At least make it clear that you cannot send a txt from the site.  I looked hi and low to send a message thinking you'd tell me to go to my phone if I could not send from the site, but that isnt clear.

a must have. I agree with Chris. Until it is implemented please post something that lets us know you can't participate through the web interface. I thought I was missing a plugin or something

The addition of this feature will definitely bring groupme, in my opinion, to the very top of the communication industry. Having the flexibility of communicating to your groups from your computer is a must have. I agree with Sikle in the fact that it was never made clear at sign up that this feature was not yet available (keyword: yet.) ;)

I travel frequently and am not able to access group me during flights. Most Delta flights have WiFi and it would be great if I could communicate with my GroupMe friends from 30,000 feet.

I would have to agree with everyone. I have been using GroupMe since early April, and love it. It does exactly what I need it to do. The only problem is that I don't have the best reception at work, so its harder for me to stay in touch with people using the app. Being able to reply using the site would put the cherry on top.

So I am totally new to groupme this week and am glad we can now text from the web. Are there any plans to be able to see the map feature on the web too? I am an Director of Operations for a Medical Device company in Dallas, TX and I am looking at all the apps in this space and about to require all my people and our sales reps to start using one next week. groupme I believe is the best out of the 10 or so I have reviewed in the last week, but having the map viewable on the web would really help me out in my daily life since my iPhone screen is just not big enough. Google Latitude has this feature, but Google's Disco.com app is not close to yours at this time and I really want to just go with one site for all my needs. Please respond when possible. Also, is it possible for someone not in the group to text the group number? I would like my sales rep to be able to text into the Ops number, but not get all the texts from other sales reps during the day. the only way around this I see is to set up several different groups for each sales team, and currently we have over 10. Would love to talk to your development team about the future of the product and what additional services are in the pipeline since I see the value in this. Communication is the hardest thing to manage, and our business needs as many tools as possible.

Thanks, and looking forward to any response.

I have been looking for a great mobile chat that can also be embedded in my business website. Do you support embedding the GroupMe chat box?

Thanks for the heads up!  We did find a bug with the web site deleting messages that exceeded the 160 character limit, but the fix is going out shortly.

The website keeps going down or is otherwise inaccessible when I go directly to groupme.com. Isitdownforme says the site is up, but it won't load in any browser.

I like the webpage, but when I'm using groupme from the page, I wish it would stop sending me texts.  I can follow the convo, but as soon as I send a message, my texts restart.  Is there a way to toggle phone notifications vs web site?

What I do is turn the notifications off on my phone. The app has the new Sleep feature which really comes in handy. I use the website when I'm at work so that I'm not constantly on my phone. So I put the app to sleep when I get to work and it automatically starts back up again for when I get home from work. It all works out perfectly

Hi Jeff and Brandy,

I do exactly what Brandy does during the day! We are working on some more options for sleep mode, too.  Stay tuned for updates! #)

Is there an option for those of us with dumb phones (besides the obvious of getting a smart phone)?

Ha! Yes, I do have an idea for you.  When you are using the website you can text your group with a message that reads #push.  That will turn off the SMS messages being sent to your phone and only send them to the web.  Then when you want to start using your phone again send a text that reads #sms to any of your groups and you will be switched back.  You can also do this on the website by going here: http://groupme.com/user/edit and toggling between Receiving messages: as app pushes (for you when you are using the website) or as sms texts (for when you use your phone).  Hope this helps!  Let me know if you need anything else either here or you can email me at support@groupme.com.

In edit, I don't have those options, only to change my name, email, phone number, enable dev features, or stop groupme service.  When I texted #push, i got a msg that said "You need to have one of our apps to enable push notifications.  Download our i/phone/android/blackberry app here"

Jeff, you can turn off notifications on the website. It'll mute you so that you don't get the texts on your phone, but you'll be able to contact your group through the site still

Hey Jeff,  The turn off notifications button on the website will just turn back on as soon as you send a message to the group.  I just spoke with some of our developers and we are going to add the option for feature phone users to send #push or change their settings on the site.  This was an oversite on our part--thanks for the heads up!  Stay tuned for updates!

Has something gone buggy on the website participation in the groups?  It's been working great for a week but all of the sudden (And I've tried both Chrome and IE), every post I make to my group, the post goes through (to app users), but it just hangs on refreshing the web page.  I have to click out of the group and then back into it to see my post.

I love GroupMe, no doubt!

But what's happened to the website? I'm all of a sudden not getting messages automatically and have to keep refreshing my screen to see new ones. I can send new ones out, but the site doesn't load new ones in. It can't be any more frustrating...

Thanks for your help!

There's lack of clarity on the timestamp on the website.  See attachment.  I went to view this group today (1:50 pm) for the first time in a week, because I have it set as muted.  I am trying to catch up on all the messages that were sent since last time I checked the group, but the timestamps are not ideally showing what date each message was sent!  you can figure it out, but it would be better if it was shown like it is in the Android app....

Add in desktop notifications for new messages.  I use the website to read/send text messages and only know to check for new messages when my phone flashes a new text message alert.  Thanks.

Every time I go on the site I get messages like "This page closed unexpectedly, Internet Explorer had to recover this wepage" or something like that, or I get like Text versions of pages.  I have to refresh ALL the time, pretty much on every page I go to while trying to do something.  I've never seen a site act like that before.  What's going on???
