How do I use a GroupMe QR code to share my profile or share a group with someone?

You can use a GroupMe QR code to share your profile or share a group with your friends and family.

To share your profile using a QR code:

  1. From the Open Navigation Open Navigation button menu, select your avatar (profile picture) to open profile settings.

  2. Verify that Sharing is enabled.

  3. Select Show QR Code to share with your friends and family or print the QR code.

    Note: If you disable contact sharing and enable it again later, you will get a new QR code and the previous one will be invalid.

To share a group using a QR code:

  1. In your chat select the group's avatar (profile picture).

  2. Select Settings Settings button.

  3. Under Share Group, select Show QR code.

  4. You can share or print the QR code for your friends and family to scan and join your group.

To share your profile using a QR code:

  1. Tap the More More button in GroupMe menu.

  2. Tap the Share profile button to share the QR code with your friends and family. 

    Note: If you disable contact sharing and enable it again later, you will get a new QR code and the previous one will be invalid.

To share a group using a QR code:

  1. In your chat, tap the group's avatar (profile picture).

  2. Tap Settings Settings button in GroupMe.

  3. Tap Show QR Code.

  4. You can Share Link or Print the QR code for your friends and family to scan and join your group.

iPad

To share your profile using a QR code:

  1. Tap the More More button in GroupMe menu.

  2. Tap Share profile to share the QR code with your friends and family. You may get a message to verify you to want to share your profile if sharing was disabled.

    Note: If you disable contact sharing and enable it again later, you will get a new QR code and the previous one will be invalid.

To share a group using a QR code:

  1. In your chat, tap Settings Settings button from the top of the screen.

  2. Tap Share Group, then tap Display QR code.

  3. You can share or print the QR code for your friends to scan and join your group.

iPhone

To share your profile using a QR code:

  1. From the Chats tab tap the QR code button QR code button.
     

    Note: If sharing is not enabled, you will be prompted to enable sharing your profile.  

  2. The QR code will display, then select Share to open available ways to share.
     

    Note: If you disable contact sharing and enable it again later, you will get a new QR code and the previous one will be invalid.

To share a group using a QR code:

  1. In your chat, tap the group's avatar (profile picture).

  2. Tap Settings Settings button in GroupMe.

  3. Tap Share Group, then scroll down and tap Display QR code.

  4. You can share the QR code with your friends and family to scan and join your group.

To share your profile using a QR code:

  1. In GroupMe on the web, from the navigation bar select Share Profile QR code button.

  2. On the Share your account window you can copy the QR code to share or you can select Print to share.
     

    Note: If you disable contact sharing and enable it again later, you will get a new QR code and the previous one will be invalid.

To share a group using a QR code:

  1. In your chat, select the group's avatar (profile picture).

  2. Select Settings Settings button.

  3. In Group Details, select the QR code button QR code button.
     

    Note: Group Sharing must be enabled to view the group sharing options.

  4. You can share or print the QR code for your friends and family to scan and join your group.
