How do I share a photo or video in GroupMe?

You can share photos and videos to your GroupMe chats then view and save them as you want.

To share a photo to a chat:

  1. Go to the chat that you want to share a photo.

  2. Select attach  Attachment button.

  3. From the Photo library, select Camera  Camera button to take a new photo or select Pictures Gallery button to send an existing photo, then select Open.

  4. When you’re ready, select Send to share to the chat.

Tip: You can add a caption to your photo or make it a Meme before you share it.

Things to keep in mind about photos in GroupMe:

  • Our Meme feature lets you easily add text to your photos and turn them into fun memes.

  • All photos shared within a group are automatically saved to the group's gallery.

To share a video to a chat:

  1. Go to the chat that you want to share a video.

  2. Select attach  Attachment button.

  3. Select Camera, then switch to Take Video and start recording. You can also select a previously recorded video from either Pictures or Documents.

  4. Select Send to share the video.

The Meme feature lets you add text to your videos. Just click the Meme button in the top corner of the video.

Note: To watch a shared video, you’ll need to download the file first.

To save a photo sent in GroupMe:

  1. Right click on the photo.

  2. Select Save.

    Tip: When you save a picture, it should be located in the C:\Users\{Your Account}\Pictures\GroupMe folder.

To share a photo to a chat:

  1. Go to the chat that you want to share a photo.

  2. Tap Add an attachment  Attachment button.

  3. In the Choose from Gallery, tap Camera  Camera button to take a new photo or Gallery  Gallery button to send an existing photo. You can add up to 10 photos to share at a time.

  4. When you've made your selection, tap Add image  Done button  where you can Meme or Edit the images, or add a caption.

  5. Tap Send message  Send button  to share to the chat.

Tip: You can add a caption to your photo or make it a Meme before you share it.

  • If you don't have the ability to send multiple photos, be sure to update to the latest version of GroupMe.

To share a video to a chat:

  1. Go to the chat that you want to share a video.

  2. Tap Add an attachment  Attachment button.

  3. Tap Camera  Camera button where you can select Take Video and record your video. You can also select a previously recorded video from your Gallery  Gallery button.

  4. If you recorded a new video, tap Done. After reviewing your video, tap Done  Done button.

  5. Tap Send message  Send button to share the video.

To share a video as a GIF:

  1. Go to the chat that you want to share a GIF.

  2. Tap Add an attachment  Attachment button.

  3. Tap Camera  Camera button where you can select Take Video and record your video. You can also select a previously recorded video from your Gallery  Gallery button.

  4. Slide the Convert to GIF slider to on.

    Note: Videos must be 15 seconds or less to convert them to GIFs.

  5. Tap Done  Done button.

    Note: The Meme feature lets you add text to your GIFs. Just tap the Meme button in the top of the converted GIF.

  6. Tap Send Send button to share your converted GIF.

To save a photo or video sent in GroupMe:

  1. Tap the photo or video to open it full screen.

  2. Tap More options  More options button at the top and then tap Save.

To share a photo to a chat:

  1. Go to the chat that you want to share a photo.

  2. Tap attach  Add button.

  3. From the Photo Library, tap camera  Camera button to take a new photo or photos  Gallery button to send an existing photo. You can add up to 10 photos to share at a time.

  4. When you’re ready, tap Send to share to the chat.

  2. Tap Save from the menu.

To share a photo to a chat:

  1. Go to the chat that you want to share a photo.

  2. Select Open to attach media content  Add button.

  3. Select Share Photos and Documents and select the photo you’d like to share, then select Open.

  4. When you’re ready, select Send to share to the chat.
