You can delete the chat history for an individual or a group chat. This clears the chat history on your device, but the other participants will still be able to see the chat.
To clear your chat history:

Select the group or individual chat that you want.

Select the group or contact's avatar (profile picture), then select Settings
Tip: On iPad, either select Settings

Select Clear Chat History.

Select Clear or Yes to confirm. Your chat history will be cleared.
Important: Once you’ve cleared your chat history from your device, you can’t recover it.
